A

Aztecs believed that Quetzalcoatl (god) had left the valley of Mexico in the 10th decade, and would return in triumph. Cortes (spanish explorer) arrived at the time that the Aztecs beleved Quetzalcoatl would return. Cortes took advantage of the opportunity. He and his group of explorers destroyed their temple and burned 1000s of books, except 4. The leader of the Aztec, Montezuma, didn’t believe Cortes was Quetzalcoatl so he created conflict between Cortes and the Aztec people. In a large battle, Cortes and his group killed all of the Aztecs.
