Q

Geothermal Energy

A

Pipes are placed in the ground to absorb the heat from rocks in the Earth. This heat is used to generate steam to turn turbines.

Q

Nuclear fission

A

When the large nucleus of the uranium atom is bombarded with neutrons, it splits into two almost equal parts. This splitting is called fission.
This converts nuclear energy into heat energy. The heat is used to make steam which turns turbines to generate electricity within a nuclear reactor.
