Obtaining information on the industry
The greatest perceived socio-economic impacts of the hospitality sector are increased employment, improved living standards, greater tax revenues to State and local governments, and growth in local retail sales. The hospitality sector encompasses many subsectors: lodging, food services, gaming, cruise lines, travel, etc.
Current and emerging trends
The Emerging trends (or Trending words) is a list of words that describe the topics which emerged faster than any others over the last 24 hours. By “emerging” we mean getting more social attraction from the crowd, being discussed much more than any other topic.
Sectors
Sectors. According to the Cambridge Business English Dictionary the “hospitality industry” consists of hotels and food service, equivalent to NAICS code 72, “Accommodation and Food Service”.
Departments
The hospitality industry is a broad category of fields within the service industry that includes lodging, food and drink service, event planning, theme parks, travel and tourism. It includes hotels, tourism agencies, restaurants and bars.
Interrelationship between these
The hospitality industry is an industry that offers services that usually cost extra income to enjoy and include things like hotels, restaurants, transportation, and leisure activities. Tourism is the act of traveling to a destination for pleasure purposes.

Legislative requirements
Industry laws relate to guests and employees, and include legislation on employee health and safety, labor laws, environmental protection, hygiene, alcohol licensing regulations, negligence, privacy and contracts.
Quality assurance
Quality assurance refers to the processes and procedures that systematically monitor different aspects of a service process or facility to detect, correct and ensure that quality standards are being met.
Types of employment
Food and beverage, travel and tourism, lodging, and recreation. The food and beverage category includes restaurants, bars, and lounges. Travel and tourism covers airlines and travel agencies

Legal and ethical issues
Whilst confidentiality, pricing and tipping are major ethical issues within the hospitality industry, other ethical issues may also arise. Overbooking is a common practice during peak periods as enterprises may factor in that some bookings may turn up to be no-shows.
