The alliteration of the double “ff” sounds like waves.

This is showing that nature is alive and full of sound. Contrast to next stanza.

of all the sounds there are”
the short sentences show how fast the sounds finally came to an end. The alliteration of “S” are relevant to the end of sounds, they are forced shut.
From the first stanza of all sounds to this stanza of none.
“You left me
beside the quietest fire in the world”
This short sentence shows how abanded he felt when he was left by his loved one. Exaggeration at the “quietest” . Paradox of a fire that makes no noise adds to this image of loss and loneliness.
“clatter came”
The alliteration of “c” builds up the suspension throughout the first stanza. “clatter” could be referred to a lot of noise. This is showing that nature is alive and full of sound. Contrast to next stanza.
