What is aliteration
Repetition of a consistent sound at the beginning of a word
Ex: the table took a while to wash
What is consonance
Repetition of consonant sounds either before or after different vowel sounds
ex: You can’t stutter on twitter
What is assonance
Repetition of a vowel sound, generally in stressed syllables in words who’s consonant sounds differ
ex: which underneath looked kneaded
What is onomotopia
When the sound of language is similar to the thing it represents
ex: moo or bark
What is anaphora
Repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of a series of sentences clauses or lines
What is a refrain
A line or set of lines repeated at intervals in a poem, in songs, it is the chorus
What is euphony
The use or repetition of sounds thought to be beautiful, smooth, or pleasant
What is cacophony
Language that strikes the ear as harsh, ugly, or unpleasant
