Sound And Light Flashcards
How are different sounds made
Sound is made by different frequency of sound wave
What frequency can a human hear up to
About 20000 Hz
How do we record and analyse sounds
Using a oscilloscope
Identify sound wave patterns
Long and wide is a low frequency and quiet and long but thin wave is high frequency but quiet, very tall but wide is low frequency but loud and very tall and thin is high frequency but loud
Why does sound travel quicker through a solid than a liquid or a gase
Because sound is made from vibrations and a solid vibrates so sound can travel quicker
Why does a vacuum stop sound
Because there is no air so there is nothing for the sound to vibrate off of
How do we hear sounds
Because of the hammer that is connected to the anvil banning on the ear drum causing vibrations which in ables us to hear
How can the ear be damaged
Hairs in the cochlea are damaged (permanent) ear drum is torn (temporary) ear canal is blocked (temporary) nerve has been damaged (permanent) middle ear bones have been damaged (temporary)
