Some analysis Flashcards
Sheila
During Mrs Birlings interrogation it was revealed that she was apart of Eva death’s refusing to help Eva even though she was a charity worker. Being socially irresponsible she decides to blame the “father” for Eva’s suicide telling the Inspector If the girl’s death is due to anybody, then it’s due to him and he should be “dealt severely”. Mrs Birling refuses to take the fault in the matter of Eva’s death so instead she blames her son Eric not knowing that he was the father presenting her as single minded and lacking social responsibility. Priestley uses this irony to reinforce his point in socialism through the statement the Inspector gives “We are member of one body” showing that in society everyone is linked and that we all should be responsible for everyone no matter who you are.
