5x + 3 - 1 = x

First:

x both sides by 2

Second:

5x + 3 - 2 = 2x

Third:

x both sides by 3

Fourth:

15x + 9 - 6 = 2x

-15x -15x

Fifth:

3 = -13x

Finally:

x = -3
13

Question 2

Silver example:

The width of a rectangle is xcm.

Length is (x + 5) cm

Perimeter = 4x + 10 = 62

Work out what x is

Answer 2

First:

4x + 10 = 62

-10 -10

Second:

4x = 52

Finally:

divided by 4

x = 13cm
