Solids, Liquids And Gases + electricity Flashcards
What is specific heat capacity?
Amount of heat energy need to raise the temperature of 1kg of a substance by 1 degree
What is the specific heat capacity equation?
Change in heat energy = mass x temp change x specific heat capacity
What is specific latent heat?
Amount of energy needed to change the state of 1kg of a substance
What is the specific latent heat equation?
Energy = mass x specific latent heat
Define temperature
The amount of kinetic energy needed to heat a substance
Celsius to Kelvin
+ 273
Kelvins to Celsius
-273
What is the change in pressure equation?
P1/T1 = P2/T2
Gas pressure
If we increase the heat, then the more energy the gas particles have and the more times they bump into the walls. This increases the gas pressure.
Why do you need the thermometer?
To check the temperature change
Why do you need the power pack?
To give the circuit electrical energy
Why do you need to keep the amount of water used the same?
Different amounts of water will absorb different amounts of energy
Why do we need to keep the voltage the same?
So we can easily calculate the amount of energy used
What does E = I x T x V stand for?
Energy = Current x time x voltage
What does Q = I x T
Coulombs = Current x time
