What are the qualifications and training of solicitors?
1- Academic stage = 3 year law degree or 1 year graduate diploma in law.
2- Vocational stage = complete legal practice course for 1 year.
3- Professional stage = get training contract, gain practice in solicitors firm.
Then admitted in as a solicitor by law society.
Whats the work and role of solicitors?
Mostly within private practices.
They type of work depends mostly on their clients, usually writing letters or drawing up wills.
Can they represent in court?
Can only represent in Magistrates and County court.
They can take training to gain higher rights of audience.
Whats the regulation of solicitors?
1- Regulation is done by the law society.
2- Poor services complaints go to their office, who will deal with it although the clients can also go to legal ombudsman.
3- Misconduct is dealt with by the solicitors regulation authority. Could be suspended to struck of the role in disciplinary tribunal.
4- Can sue and be sued for breach of contract and negligence as they enter into a direct contract.
