What are the qualifications and training they must go through?

Answer 1

1- Academic stage = three year law degree or 1 year graduate diploma.
2- Vocational stage = join 4 inns of court and 1 year bar professional training course.
3- Professional stage = they’re called to the bar, they then complete pupilage which is split into 2, 6 month periods.

The works and role of barristers?

Answer 2

3000/13000 are self-employed.
Work mostly surrounds advocacy in court.
Use cab-rank rule so must take any cases if they are available.

Question 3

Whats the regulation of barristers?

Answer 3

1- Regulated by the bar council.
2- If poor service occurs must contact solicitors or they can ask the legal ombudsman.
3- Misconduct is overseen by the legal services board, regulate/ handle complaints.
4- Can only be sued for negligence as don’t enter into contract with client
