What is privatisation?
The involvement of private companies and organisations in the provision and management of education. This involves outsourcing certain aspects of education, such as the building and management of schools, to private entities.

Costa, Vending Machines

- Public private partnerships
- Academisation and examining bodies
What is the education services industry?
Establishments that provide instruction and training in a wide variety of subjects
What is cola-isation?
Large companies influencing those in education to purchase their products and services
What are PPPs (public-private partnerships)?
Long term agreements between a government and private sector institutes where the private businesses fund building etc and get revenue or profit back over the contract
What is academisation?
Academy trusts owning several schools ran like a business
Why are academies examples of privatisation?
- Ran actively by private companies and acquire 10% funding from business / charities
- Control their own management, running and teacher pay
How are Educational Action Zones an example of privatisation?
Private businesses are running and funding many schools in the area
What are some concerns of privatisation?
- Influence over curriculum
- Profit is the main goal
- Unqualified and untrained teachers
