Secondary schools that allow any student to attend - it wasn’t based on ability

Strengths of Comprehensives
A
- Equal opportunities
- Students that develop later can move setc etc
- Allows for mixed ability teaching, so the cleverest can help the weaker students
- Larger schools can offer a range of courses
- No issues with ‘parity of esteem’

Weaknesses of comprehensives
A
- Lower standards. Students not pushed hard enough so academically strong students miss out
- Poorer behaviour of less able impacted everyone
