What cause criminal behaviour for the Marxist theory?
The ruling class (bourgeoise) who own all the businesses, factories, banks ect.
The working class (proletariat) whose labour the capitalist exploit for profit.
(keeping the poor the poor for as long as they can to make as much profit as they can).
What are the ways that the criminal justice system keep the working class in its place?
Exploitation, Relative deprivation, Alienation ,Ruining class crime- capitalist is competitive ‘dog eat dog’ profit at all costs: tax Evasion, pay below mining wage.
What is Exploitation ?

What is relative deprivation ?
Advertising new and better goods to buy encourages crimes
What is Alienation ?
Boring jobs that are soul destroying make people very frustrated and leads to crime alienation- boring jobs causes crimes such as domestic violence, fighting, drink too much.
What is the ruling class ?

Explains the link between poverty and crime.

What are the weaknesses of this theory ?
- Out of data, the working class has shrunk and is not as Marxist describe anymore.
- Assumes all working class people are criminals.
-We no longer has a 2 class structure anymore.
