What is Peer group?
Relates to the people that individuals interact with at school, work or in recreational activities. They can influence the things that people do and the behaviours they develop.
Examples of Peer group?
Positives & Negatives.
- Positive: Friends that play in the same sporting club at school.
- Negative: Being new to a school.
- Positive: Having an active friend group.
- Negative: Having a group that drinks a lot.
What is housing?
Relates to the environment that a person lives in. Some aspects of the household environment that can affect health status.
Housing Examples?
- Household location.
- Indoor Air pollution.
- Kitchen Facilities.
- Overcrowding.
- Drinking water.
- Housing Safety.
- Household location.
Access to healthcare info?
Access to knowledge and skills equips people to make informed decisions about their health & wellbeing.
Examples of Access to Healthcare Information?
- Concerns about confidentiality.
- Not being treated with respect.
- Location services.
- Inflexible operating hours
- High costs.
- Inadequate transport services.
- Not having their own Medicare card.
What is education?
Education is linked with better health status - the higher the level of schooling, the more knowledge an individual has.
What is Employment?
Young people learn general skills, how to cooperate with others and assume responsibility which helps in adulthood.
What is Income?
Income determines the type of neighborhood in which a person grows up and the type of school they attend and this can influence where they live and what they do in adulthood.
