Disadvantages of commercialisation

A

Product promotion can make people want expensive products they can’t afford
Sponsors can demand things are done a certain a way. Clash with ideals
Beauty parade effects - Some people can receive more investment for the way they look rather than having good ability
Seat prices at events can be too high for some people
Audiences can find their enjoyment of the sport interrupted through adverts for example
Sponsors can determine when and where an event takes place, limiting some people from taking part
Marketing links may be seen as inappropriate for pushing products such as cigarettes that don’t support an active healthy lifestyle
