Aerobic And Anaerobic Respiration Flashcards
Where is glucose stored?
Glucose is stored in the MUSCLES and the LIVER in the form of glycogen.
How much ATP is produced in respiration?
Respiration produces 32 ATP per reaction.
What is the formula for respiration?
Glucose + oxygen = Carbon dioxide + Water + ATP
What are the two byproducts of respiration?
Carbon dioxide and water
What is the role of the bloodstream in respiration?
The blood brings glucose to the muscles for use in exercise.
What is the formula for anaerobic respiration?
Glucose = Energy + Lactic acid
Examples of anaerobic respiration in sport.
Sprinting, powerlifting, high jump.
Examples of aerobic respiration in sport.
Long distance running, long distance swimming.
How does lactic acid affect the body?
Lactic acid is TOXIC. After a while, it makes your muscles ache. Oxygen needs to be supplied to remove lactic acid to prevent cramp in the muscles.
