Socialization
The lifelong process of learning the culture of any society
Culture
A shared, learned way of life
Primary socialization
Learning how to behave in the early years of childhood through family.
Secondary socialization
Learning how to behave outside the family throughout life, through media/ work.
Social institutions (Social agencies/organisations)
Various organised social arrangements found in all societies. E.g the family, education, the law.
Social structure
Social institutions make up a society’s social structure - the building blocks of society
Culture
The language,beliefs,norms, values dress and roles which make up the way of life of any society.
Identity
How individuals see and define themselves and how others see and define them.
Values
Beliefs about what is right or wrong, important, worth having.
Norms
Social rules which define the correct and acceptable behavior in a society or social group to which people are expected to conform.
Customs
Norms which have lasted a long time and have become part of society’s traditions.
