Socialization is the process by which individuals internalizes the values, beliefs, and norms of a given society and learn to functions as a member of that society

A
Socialization cannot explain everything about a person’s development and personalisty

A
Usually begins before birth; Gender is a set of performances, “masculinity” and “femininity”, making room for non-binary notions

A
- Comprehensive pattern of behaviors that is socially recognized as “appropriate”
- The behavior expected from an individual who occupies a social status (position)
Ex. Mother = not role = status

Primary Socialization
A
child learns the attitudes, values, and actions appropriate to individuals as members of a particular culture.
