What is Shintoism?
A religion that believes in things in nature having a spirit.
What was the Kami?
Spiritual beings that were believed to inhabit particular places, like the mountains, the sea, waterfalls, or trees.
Who was prince Shotoku
Prince Shōtoku promoted Buddhism and Confucianism in what had been an exclusively Shintō milieu and brought new political, religious, and artistic institutions to Japan.
What is the main idea of Confucianism
The main idea of Confucianism is the importance of having a good moral character
Who were the Shogun?
Shoguns were hereditary military leaders who were technically appointed by the emperor.
Who were the Samurai?
The samurai were the warriors of Japan.

Bushido is the way of warrior, kind of like their code.

Daimyo were feudal lords who, as leaders of powerful warrior bands, controlled the areas of Japan
What was the Heian Period?
Heian period, in Japanese history, the period between 794 and 1185, named for the location of the imperial capital, which was moved from Nara to Heian-kyō
What is a Torii
It is a symbol to mark the transition from the normal everyday world to the sacred.
What is animism?
It is the belief in innumerable spiritual beings concerned with human affairs and capable of helping or harming human interests. An example is to be a mountain, to be a wolf, to be a bay, to be a beach, etc.
