Why was Islam important for west africa?
It united people, they had the same language (arabic), they trusted eachother because they had the same values.
What does Matrihincal mean?
To inherid from your moms side.
What were the roles of the father in those times?
Hunting, trading, building houses.
What were the roles of the mother in those times?
Took care of the children, agriculture, clothing, cooked.
What were the roles of the kids in those times?
scared birds from crops, gathered water from the rivers, and took care of younger siblings.
What were the roles of the elders in those times?
Shared knowladge and wisdom. (They told stories outloud)
What things Islam and west africa traded?
Reasurces sucha s salt, gold, knowladge, culture, and iron tools.
What did they do with iron tools?
They did agriculture, weaponry, and cooking.
Why was Ghana a trading empire?
Because of its geography, reasurces, and because they charged taxes.
What were some things about their culture?
Griots (storytelling orally and with music, religion was Islam, they did gold sculptures.
