What is a similie?
a similie is a comparison that uses words like like or as.
What is a metaphor?
A metaphor is when you use a word or phrase to describe something in a way that isn’t literally true, but helps explain or compare it.
What is personification?
Personification is when you make something that isn’t human act like it is. For example, “The sun smiled down at us.”
What is onomatopoeia?
Onomatopoeia is when a word sounds like the noise it describes. For example, “buzz,” “bang,” or “splash.”
What is a hyporbole?
A hyperbole is an extreme exaggeration used to make a point or show emphasis. For example, “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.”
What is a caption?
A caption is a small sentence or phrase under a picture that explains what the picture is about. For example, a photo of a dog might have a caption that says, “The dog is playing in the park.”

How to summarize a text?
To summarize a text, find the most important ideas and leave out the extra details. Then, explain it in your own words and shorten it.
What is a topic sentence and how do we identify one?
A topic sentence is usually the first sentence in a paragraph that tells us what the whole paragraph is about.To identify a topic sentence you need to find the sentence that shows what the text is about. It’s usually the first one. The topic sentence gives the main idea and helps you understand the rest of the text.
What is a main idea?
The main idea is what the story is mostly about. It’s the big thing you should remember. For example, if a story is about a dog, the main idea might be that the dog is friendly.
