Q

What 5 key parts make up the social learning theory

Brieflt outline what each part involves

A
  1. Modelling - Someone must carry out (model) behaviour to be learnt
  2. Imitation - We copy others behaviours
  3. Identification - More likely to imitate behaviour of those we identify with
  4. Reinforcement - more likey to repeat observed behaviour if it is rewarded

-Direct reinforcement - Rewarded for imitating
-Vicarious reinforcement - someone else rewarded so imitate
5. Mediational processes - Behaviours enter conscious thought - determined by self confidence, attention and memory

outline

Q

Pros/cons of theory

2 points

A
  • Applicable to real world - understanding of criminal behaviour
  • Reasearch supporting identifiction.
  • Fails to acknowledge other factors influencing behaviour
  • Bobo doll experiment conducted in artifial environment - limited ecological value
