Social Learning Theory Flashcards
Imitation
Using someone or something as a model and copying their behaviour.
Identification
An individual adopts an attitude or behaviour because they want to be associated with a particular person
Vicarious reinforcement
Individuals learn about likely consequences of an action and adjust their subsequent behaviour accordingly
Mediations processes
Internal mental processes that exist between environmental stimuli and the respires made by an individual to those stimuli
Strength of slt
Useful applications
Understand human behaviour particularly criminal behaviour
Increase criminal activity when exposed to models who commit criminal behaviour
Positive consequences
Negative of slt
Deterministic - controlled by environment
Nurture - learned from others behaviour not genes
