Social Learning Theory Flashcards
Who proposed social learning theory?
Bandura
What is modelling?
Imitating the behaviour of a role model after observation.
What is observation and imitation in social learning theory?
Observation is when an individual focuses their attention on the behaviour.
Imitation is copying that behaviour.
What is vicarious reinforcement?
When an observer witnesses the model being rewarded in some way for a behaviour.
What are the 4 stages of social learning?
- Attention
- Retention
- Reproduction
- Motivation
Evaluate the supporting evidence of SLT?
Banduras studies:
Children would imitate an aggressive role model especially if the model was same sex and rewarded.
What is the opposing evidence of SLT?
Generalisability:
Results of Bandura aren’t generalisable a as they are children so aren’t representative.
What is the different theory of social learning theory?
Biological approach.
How can SLT be applied?
Censorship of aggressive role models.
