social learning theory Flashcards
what are the 3 types of models
live, verbal , symbolic
why must the behaviour be modelled
because it must be carried out by a role model
the observer must identify with the role model this is because
its similar in appearance, gender, interests etc
what does bandaranaike suggest that the characteristics that make up a persons role. model
they are similar to the observer so this is perceived similarity
why does modelling have a status in the eyes of the observed
as its a perceived status ie naughty childi n al eason might have status in the eyes of his classmates for clowning around but not to the teacher
when the behaviour is rewarded what us this called and what is the result
vicarious reinforcement as it can results in modelling, facilitation, disinhibition and inhibition
what is modelling
when the observer imitates the behaviour being shown
what is facilitation
when the observer repeats the behaviour a bit differently
what is disinhibition
when someone becomes more likely to do something they used to think was wrong
what is inhibition
when someone becomes less likely to do something they used to think was ok because the role model was punished
what is live model
is actual individual demonstrating or acting out a behaviour
what is the verbal instructional model
descriptions and explanations of a behaviour
what is the symbolic model
real or fictional characters displaying behaviours in books, films, TV programmes
what are the 4 stages of social learning theory
attention, retention, reproduction and motivation
