What is conformity?
changing your behavior, or opinions as a result of real or imagined pressure from a group. E.g., wearing a certain type of clothing because your friends.
What is internalisation?
occurs when a person genuinely accepts the group norms, this change is usually permantly
What is identification?
A moderate type of conformity where we act in the same way as the group because we value it and want to be a part of it.
What is complaince?
A superficial and temporary conformity where we outwardly go along with the majority view but privately disagree with it.
What is normative?
one reason people conform is that they want to get approval and avoid disapproval.
What is informational?
people conform because they don’t know what to do or think and they look to other for answers.
