What are the here types of conformity?
Compliance, identification and internalisation
Compliance
Where you go along with the majority even if you don’t share their views.
For compliance why would you change your behaviour.
To appear normal because going against majority could lead to exclusion or rejection from group. Normative social influence.
Identification
Conform to what’s expected to fulfil a social role.
Why would you change your behaviour for identification.
Because you want to fit a specific role in society or are trying to imitate behaviour of a role model.
Internalisation
Going along with the majority and believing in their views. You have accepted and internalised them so now your own too.
Why would you change your behaviour for internalisation.
Maybe if you are in an unfamiliar situation where you don’t know correct way to behave. So look for information from others - informational social influence.
