The process whereby attitudes and behaviours are influenced y the real or implied presence of other people

What is the autokinetic effect?
A
Participants questioned their internal frame of reference when asked how often light moves and they questioned their judgement when discussed with others as they had been uncertain so used others to guide their own perception.
