What is a necessary cause?
Presence is required for the occurrence of the event. Can’t have the disease without exposure to the cause but exposure doesn’t always lead to outcome.
What is a sufficient cause?
A factor whose presence leads to an effect. Exposure alone would induce the outcome but other exposures may induce the same outcome.
What are the determinants of of malaria infection?
Parasite, mosquito, no of infected persons in community, goegraphy, drainage, agriculture.
What are the important social determinants involved with malaria infection?
Education, poverty, scarcity of resources, living conditions, household size,
What set of factors drives health the most?
Social factors.
How much of the variance in health status within a population is down to individuals?
Less than a quarter.
