What are Social Determinants?
A
- Non-medical factors that influence health outcomes (Income, Education, Unemployment, Food insecurity)
- Lower the socioeconomic status = worse the health

What are Health Inequities and Inequalities?
A
- Health inequities are avoidable inequalities in health between groups of people in and between countries
- Arise from inequalities within and between societies

What are Blue zones?
A
- Blue zones are places with high rates of citizens living to over 100 years of age
- Possible from genetics, diet, family, walking, red wine, goat milk and laughter
- Sardinia, Italy is one blue zone

A
The infant mortality rate is 2 per 1000 live births in Iceland and over 120 per 1000 live births in Mozambique;

In Bolivia, babies born to women with no education have infant mortality greater than 100 per 1000 live births, while the infant mortality rate of babies born to mothers with at least secondary education is under 40 per 1000
