What is social cohesion?
Willingness of memebers of a socieity to cooperate with each other for survival and prosperity.
What are some benefits of social cohesion?
- Oppurtunies for work and education
- Exclusion and disharmony is challenged
- Members would have a sense fo belonging
Definition of individual rights.
Things that one is entitled to like freedom of religion.
What are some individual rights?
Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of movement, right to vote and be silent
What are laws?
Guidelines for what is acceptable and legal in a society.
What are some roles of laws?
Protect individual rights, maintain social cohesion,
What are the roles of an indivudal?
To respect individual rights, ensure they are following relevant laws when making an important decision and assissting police with investigatins if they have relevant information
Role of legal systems
Consists of bodies that make, implement and enforce the laws.
What are examples of legal system bodies?
Courts, enforcement bodies (police) and tribunal courts
What is a tribunal court?
Body established to settle certain types of disputes
