What is an alternative explanation?

How can NSI be linked to social change
The minority groups can provide information about what other people are doing, such as telling young people that most of them do not smoke to deter smoking behaviours meaning social change is encouraged by drawing attention to what the majority are doing
What did Foxcroft conduct - discussion ?
A meta analysis of 70 studies where social change was attempted through social norms and NSI, including reducing alcohol consumption in students
What did Foxcroft find?
That often the use of NSI to bring about social change leas to only a small reduction in drinking unity and had no impact on drinking frequency - doesn’t produce long term social change
