- What is definition of Obstacle?
Obstacle is designed to impede, slow or stop movement of the enemy
- What are the two categories of Obstacle?
A) Existing Natural: lake, mountains Cultural: town, dikes, etc B) Reinforcing Crater, rubble, wire, log and etc
- What the five types are of reinforce obstacle?
a) Demolition
Created by the detonation of explosive (includes artillery and air strikes)
b) Constructed
Built by soldier without explosive ie wire, ditches and log cribs (requires man power, equipment, material, time)
c) Land Mines
d) Contamination
Either nuclear or chemical in nature. Difficult to predict and control
e) Expedient
- What the five principle of reinforce obstacle are?
- Support the maneuver commander’s plan
- Integrated with observed fire
- Integrated with existing obstacles and with other reinforcing obstacles
- Observation and adjustment of fire are essential
- Reinforce selected natural and cultural obstacle area.
- What are the two employments of reinforcing obstacles?

Are those that are present on terrain or battlefield and not placed there through
military effort.
Reinforcing obstacles
Are placed on the battlefield through military effort and are designed to
strengthen the existing terrain to slow, stop, or canalize the enemy.

Where do you place the spoil when digging trenches?
Enemy side for triangular and side hill
Friendly side for trapezoidal
