What is a Closed skills
When the player knows exactly what to do and when, can not be affected by the enviroment like taking a penalty
What is a open skill
Situation always changing player has to adapt to the changes situation like 3 vs 1 in football too 3 vs 2
What is basic skill
Skill that a player finds easy and needs little concentration
What is complex skill
Skill where player needs to give full concentration for like taking a penalty in football
Low organisation skill
Has clear simple phases that can be broken down and practiced in steps
High organisation skill
Lots of complicated phases can not be broken down like sommorsault can not be broken down
Massed practice
When the skill is practiced until is learnt with no break for example an athlete would do this to learn a skill
Distributed practice
Where the skill is practised over several sessions or with rest breaks
Fixed practice
Where a skill is practiced over and over again until mastered
Variable practice
Practicing skill in various different situations
Visual guidence
Where the coach will do a demonstration to show you how to do a drill
Verbal guidence
Use before giving a demonstation the coach talks you through it
Manual and mechanical guidence
Where the coach is actually in contacts with the learner as they perform the skill
Intrinsic feedback
Comes from the performer themselves
Extrinsic feedback
Comes from someone outside like a friend coach or teacher
Concurrent feedback
Given during the performence like coach shouting on the side line
Terminal feedback
Given at the end of the performence
Advantages of different guidences
Visual guidence means leaner knows exactly what to do
Verbal the coach can explain in detail
Coach can help the performer
Disadvantages of guidence
Visual leaners can not ask questions if video
Diffcult for beginners to understand verbal
Not possible for all sports
