What are the 5 health related components of fitness?
Cardiovascular fitness/endurance, Muscular strength, Muscular endurance, Flexibility, Body Composition
Cardiovascular fitness
The ability to excercise your whole body for long periods of time.
What athlete would require cardiovascular fitness?
A marathon runner because they need to be able to work their entire body for a long period of time.
Muscular Strength
The amount of force a muscle can exert against a resistence.
Muscular Endurance
The ability to use voluntary muscles repeatedly without getting tired
What athletes need muscular endurance?
Long distance cyclists need to have good muscular endurance to be able to work their legs for long periods of time.
Flexibility
The range of motion of your joints.
What athletes need flexibility?
Gymnasts will need good flexibilty to be able to do different excercises like flips and the splits. Also will be useful in hockey because they need to stay low to the putt.
Body Composition
The percentage of body weight that is muscle, fat or bone.
What athlete needs Body Composition?
Sumo wrestlers because they need to be as big and as heavy as possible to be able to push the opponent out the circle and make it as hard as possible to get pushed out the circle.
