Why is smoking/vaping addictive
It contains certain ingredients to make the smoker/vaper want more
What is nicotine
An ingredient in a cigarette
Increases heart rate and blood pressure
Makes blood vessels narrower than normal which can lead to heart disease

What is tar
An ingredient in cigarettes
Causes lung, mouth and throat cancer
Coats the inside of the lungs causing coughing
Damages the alveoli and makes it difficult for gas exchange to happen
What is carbon monoxide
An ingredient in a cigarette
Takes place of oxygen in red blood cells which reduces the amount of oxygen the blood can carry
The circulatory system has to work harder
Causes heart disease
What does a cigarette contain
Several harmful products including nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide
What does a vape contain
Nicotine, propylene glycol and flavourings
How does smoking affect the lungs
Can cause conditions such as cancer in the breathing organisms / collects tar in the organs causing breathing difficulties
What is CHD
When chemicals from a cigarette cause the blood to thicken and clot veins and arteries
What is cilia
Little hairs in your airways that move mucus out of your airwaves
