-Transdermal patches, gum, lozenges
(Nicoderm, nicorette, nicotrol, commit lozenge)
DO NOT USE if continue to smoke- high levels of nicotine can be toxic

Smoking Cessation Medications
A
- bupropion (wellbutrin, zyban)
-wellbutrin is antidepressant, zyban for smoking (difference in dosage) -
Varenicline (Chantix) - competes with nicotine receptors
Dosing- start with 0.5 mg daily for days 1-3, then 0.5 mg bid days 4-7; Stop smoking on day 8 then 1 mg bid for at least 12 wks.
ADR- mood and behavior changes, INSOMNIA
