SMALL AND LARGE INTESTINE Flashcards
Where coeliac trunk arises from?
It is an artery to foregut
Branches off the front of aorta just below the diaphragm
Which parts does the coeliac artery supply to?
Supply from lower third of the oesophagus to the 2nd part of the duodenum
Liver and part of the pancreas
Where does venous blood drain into?
portal vein to be taken to the liver
Which nerve supplies the foregut?
Sympathetic nerve supply from Greater Splanchnic Nerve
T5-T9
Parasympathetic nerve supply from the vagal trunks
X cranial nerve
Where lies the stomach?
Left upper quadrant of the abdomen
What are the different parts of the stomach?
Fundus Body Antrum Pyloric region (contains Pyloric sphincter) Greater and lesser curve
What is the greater curve of the stomach is attached to?
Greater Omentum
What are the folds of mucous membrane inside the stomach is called?
Rugae
What is epiploic foramen?
the space between the portal triad and the lesser sac
What is the extent of the lesser sac?
It is bound by the greater omentum from greater curve of the stomach
the lesser omentum from lesser sac of the stomach
the caudate lobe of the liver
What lies behind the lesser sac?
Pancreas inferiorly
Diaphragm superiorly
Which nerve supplies the midgut (superior mesentery artery)?
Sympathetic nerve supply through
Lesser Splanchnic Nerve (T10-11)
Parasympathetic Nerve supply- Vagus nerve
Which nerve supplies to Hindgut(inferior mesentery artery)?
Sympathetic nerve supply through Lumbar splanchnic nerve (L1,2,3) Parasympathetic nerve supply through Pelvic Splanchnic Nerve (S2,3,4) and vagal nerve Least Splanchnic nerve (T12)
How do pelvic splanchnic nerve supplies to inferior mesentery artery?
It supplies through the inferior hypogastric artery ascends through the hypogastric nerve towards superior hypogastric artery and then enters inferior mesenteric and supplies the hindgut
How do vagus nerve supplies to foregut?
It enters the abdomen through oesophageal hiatus via coeliac trunk and follows arterial supply
