Q

Name another assumption of SLT gender.

A

Smith and LLoyd. 32 mothers were asked to play with 6 month old babies who were stereotyped as male and female through coloured clothes. Gender stereotypical toys were given to these. Showed mothers are involved in differential treatment of boys and girls. This may lack temporal validity as things may have changed and modernised.

Q

Name another assumption of SLT gender.

A

There are 2 main processes for gender related behaviour; acquisition and performance. Acquisition= attention and retention. Performance= motor reproduction and motivation. Attention= observing another person of the same sex partake in an activity. Retention= remembering the behaviour. Learn through live or symbolic models of same gender, become role models. Models of same gender, higher status, attractiveness and friendliness more likely to be copied. M Reproduction= imitating the behaviour. They need self eficacy. Motivation= why they did it, positive and direct reinforcement.
