SLT Flashcards

1

Q

mediational (cognitive) processes

A
  • attention - whether behaviour is noticed
  • retention - whether behaviour is remembered
  • motor reproduction - being able to do it
  • motivation - will to perform the behaviour

Q

strengths

A
  • emphasises importance of cognitive factors - unlike conditioning, humans store info about behaviour and use this to make judgements about when it is appropriate to perform them
  • real world application e.g media, gender roles

Q

weaknesses

A
  • recent research shows observational learning is controlled by mirror neurons, so not enough reference to bio factors
  • evidence relies on contrived lab studies - Bandura - risk of demand characteristics
