Q
Question: What conditions must be met for a self-defense claim to be valid?
A
Answer:
The accused must have a reasonable belief that they are in imminent danger of death or significant harm and that force is necessary to prevent that harm.
The amount of force used must be no greater than necessary.
Self-defense can also apply to defending third parties and property, as long as the force used is reasonable.
