Slide 8 Flashcards

1
Q

Define PDM and what it entails?

A

Project Development Memorandum: Outlines high level scope, cost, project economics, schedule. It forms the basis for finances and commercial ventures.

Q

Define DBM and what it entails?

A

Design Basis Memorandum: Contains some of the same stuff as PDM but should be more detailed. The main difference between PDM and DBM is that there are more details about the design, as the name suggests

Q

What is included on a Design Deliverable List?

A

Construction details, data sheets. Project managment is interested in this and will create a schedule based off of what is in here

Q

What features are in a Cost & Schedule Toolkit? Give two examples of tools

A

Microsoft Project, Primavera. These are external tools that you have to pay for that helps with scheduling and cost estimation

Q

Define Project Charter

A

A document outlining the scope. It is like a PDM but it outlines where the project came from, who the stakeholders are, and who is delivering to who. It is very high level and very front end

Q

Define PEP

A

Project Execution Plan: This is how we are going to get the contract. These should be developed very early on. A way to monitor, control and carry-out /(execute) a project

9
Q

Define CEP

A

Contract Execution Plan: Centers around the commercial but really the contract relationships that exist and how they are going to be managed. It states who the key contacts are and what the interfaces between them are. This could also include liabilities.

Q

Define CEP2

A

Construction Execution Plan: A separate document from engineering contract so construction doesn’t know everything. It would be included in PEP

Q

Define MOC

A

Management of Change: Formally tracking the changes to a project so you can avoid scope creep. Usually it is documented on a live document or spreadsheet

Q

Define Key Issues List

A

Things that affect the schedule/progress and budget of the project. Long lead items would be on here. Responsibilities and accountability would also be on here. Put a name and a due date on an assignment

Q

Procurement Tools

A

BISHOP KINDA NEVER REALLY EXPLAINED THIS ONE SO YOLO

What I found online:
Transactional procurement tools automate the purchasing process and usually include three main components – Electronic Catalogues, Electronic Purchase Orders (POs) and Automated Workflow. Systems can be implemented using either a dedicated transactional e–procurement system or leverage an existing FsMIS or ERP syem.

Q

Define HAZOP

A

Hazard and Operability Study. It is a systematic examination of a complex process to identify and evaluate problems that may cause risk to people and/or equipment.

16
Q

If you know there is a risk, how many options are there moving forward and what are they?

A

2 Just accept the risk, yolo, school is almost over, 4 more months. Risk no risk

TWO options
#1 Get approval to spend more money to avoid the risk
17
Q

Whoever signs the risk should be outlined in what document?

A

The corporate risk matrix

18
Q

Name some Design Tools

A
3D & 2D CAD
Modeling Software
Software to mange tracking of materials to sites
Risk Analysis Models
Protection Modeling
19
Q

Random question, but what does ALARP stand for?

A

As low as reasonably practical

20
Q

Define SIL

A

Safety Integrity Levels

21
Q

Explain some key points with safety in design?

A

It is critical for the success of a project. You must use risk assessment and mitigation and use redundant systems where needed. Ensure that you are following codes and statutory requirements. Ensure there is a follow up and verification process before closure takes place

22
Q

What is the intention of HAZOP

A

To pick up issues that may have otherwise not been found

23
Q

What technique does HAZOP use?

A

It breaks things down into nodes and those nodes are individually reviewed (because it is simpler to understand). Team members are to use intuition and good judgement to review each node.

24
Q

Does HAZOP only look at real, existing problems?

A

No, it aids to stimulate people to thinking about potential hazards
