it is apart of the routine activity theory
It is locations where the risks of crime are especially high;
What are examples of hotspots

High risk lifestyles are more likely to be victimized than people wth low-risk lifestyle
What is the Deviant place theory
People who live in dangerous social areas are at greater risk of victimization
What does the social disorganization theory have in common with the deviant place theory
Deviant place theory refers to the risk associated with living in the bad areas of town
What is the best way to avoid victimization
To move to a better neighbourhood
How would you relate homelessness and the lifestyle theory
Living on the streets increases their risk of victimization by exposing homeless people to criminals and crime
How does homelessness relate to the deviant place theory
Helps us understand why homeless people are criminally victimized more often than members of the general population
What is the victim precipitation theory
It proposes that people create their own risk of being victimized - through verbal provocation, body language, or wearing certain types of clothes
What is an example of victims precipitation theory
Builds on the fact that some people are repeated victims of crime while other people rarely or never suffer victimization
How does routine activity theory relate to street prostitutes
They are available targets since they roam the streets in search of customers
What is the victimization of consciousness
It is the victimization people suffer because they feel morally obliged to break society’s rules, which they consider wrong or immoral, then suffer punishment for acting according to their consciousness
What is the process of socialization
Refers to how people increasingly connect to an abstract ‘society’ not to a community in which every person knows everyone else
