explain the triangular trade
- ships set off from britain (bristol, liverpool or london) and travel to west africa to trade goods for slaves.
- the slaves are then taken through the ‘middle passage’ to america + the west indies.
- the ships bring back a cargo of raw goods back to england

to find better jobs - in the west, you would be looked upon almost equally.

- set against eachother by putting some in charge of the rest

- ‘gradual emancipation’: releasing children of existing slaves at 21 years
