A

Olfactory = smelling

33
Q

What is the function of CN2?

A

Vision

34
Q

What is the function of CN3?

A

Extraocular muscles; except those innervated by CN IV+VI. Parasympathetics to pupil constrictor and ciliary muscles of lens for near vision

35
Q

What is the function of CN4?

A

Superior oblique eye muscle; causes the eye to move downward and to rotate inward (depression and intorsion)

36
Q

What is the function of CN5 V1?

A

Provides sensation to eyelid, cornea and forehead area above eye

37
Q

What is the function of CN5 V2?

A

Sensation from skin of face over maxilla, including upper lip, maxillary teeth, mucosa of nose, maxillary sinuses and palate

38
Q

What is the function of CN5 V3?

A

Sensation from the skin over the mandible, including lower lip, side of head, mandibular teeth, temporomandibular joint, mucosa of mouth and anterior 2/3rd of tongue.
Motor to muscles of mastication; Mylohyoid, anterior belly of digastric, tensor veli palatini, tensor tympani.

39
Q

What is the function of CN6?

A

Lateral rectus muscle; causes ABduction of the eye

40
Q

What is the function of CN7?

A

Muscles of facial expression, also stapedius muscle and part of digastric; taste from anterior 2/3rd of tongue, sensation from a region near the ear; parasympathetics causing lacrimation (tears) and supplying the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands.

41
Q

What is the function of CN8?

A

Hearing; vestibular sensation

42
Q

What is the function of CN9?

A

Sensation from posterior pharynx, and from region near the ear, chemo- +baroreceptors of the carotid body; parasympathetic to the parotid gland

43
Q

What is the function of CN10?

A

Pharyngeal muscles (swallowing); laryngeal muscles (voicebox). Parasympathetics to the heart, lungs and digestive tract up to splenic flexure; taste from epiglottis and pharynx; sensation from pharynx, posterior meninges and region near the ear; aortic arch chemo - +baroreceptors.

44
Q

What is the function of CN11?

A

Sternomastoid muscle; upper part of trapezius muscle

45
Q

What is the function of CN12?

A

Intrinsic muscles of the tongue
