What is Tinea Pedis?
A
- Infection of the foot by Fungi
- Dermatophytes, trichophyton Rubrum
- Also known as Athletes foot

What are the types of Tinea pedis?
A
-Intertriginous: in-between toes, scaly, redness, pruritic, most common -Hyperkeratotic: soles of feet, scaly and thickened -Vesiculobullous eruption pruritic, pain full vesicles, soles of feet -acute ulcerative erosions and ulcers between toes

What are the risk factors for tinea pedis?
A
- Warm and humid environments
- Shared facilities, pools, showers
- excessive sweating
- chronic water/fluid exposure
- chronic use of enclosed footwear
- Genetic predisposition
- systemic diseases

What are some differential diagnosis?
A
- allergic contact dermatitis
- eczema
- psoriasis

What are some test you might consider to help diagnosis?
A
- KOH wet mount using skin scrapings
- looking for segmented “hyphae”

How to treat Tinea Pedis?
A
- Modify Risk factors
- Topical antifungals
- Oral antifungals
