What is necrolytic migratory erythema?
Caused by islet cell tumour of pancreas.
Causes erythematous scaly plaques in flexures.
Test by blood glucose test, and then remove tumour.
What is erythema gyratum repens?
Caused by lung cancer.
Causes concentric red bands in whorled pattern with pruritus and peripheral eosinophilia.
What is acanthosis nigricans?
Smooth velvety hyperkeratotic plaques in groin, axilla, neck
1: GI adenocarcinoma
2: AD familial with no malignancy
3: obesity and insulin resistance
What does B6 deficiency cause?
Dermatitis
What does B12 deficiency cause?
Angular chelitis
What does B3 deficiency cause?
Pellagra: dementia, diarrhoea, dermatitis.
What does zinc deficiency cause?
Acrodermatitis enteropathica - pustules with bullae and scarring in acral and perioral areas.
Mutation in SCL39A zinc transporter
What can cause zinc deficiency?
Infants - breast feeding (low zinc levels)
adults - parenteral nutrition, alcoholism, IBD
Can look like necrolytic migratory erythema
What does vitamin C deficiency cause?
Scurvy - punctuate purpura, spiral shaped hairs, non-healing wounds.
What is erythema nodosum?
Rash caused by strep, OCP, sarcoidosis, drugs.
