What are the steps of the physical examination for skin, hair, and nails?
1) Inspect and palpate the skin. (Colour, general pigmentation, areas of hypo or hyperpigmentation, abnormal colour changes)
2) Palpate skin (temperature, moisture, texture, thicknes, edema, mobility and turgor, hygiene and vascularity or bruising)
3) Note any lesions: colour, shape and confifuration (borders), size, location and distribution on body
4) Inspect and palpate hair: texture, distribution, any scalp lesions or inhabitants
5) Inspect and palapte nails: shape and contour, consistency and colour
6) Teach skin self-examination and engage in health promotion.

1) Close with intention.
2) Summarize findings.
3) Give opportunity to ask questions
4) HAND HYGIENE!
