A

•allergic and idiopathic forms
•IgE mediated
Anaphylaxis
Laryngeal edema, bronchospasm, shock, death
•transient wheals that resolve within 24 hours
•lesions migrate, can be associated with angioedema
•Histology: dermal edema, neutrophils, eosinophils
•Principles of Therapy: antihistamine, systemic corticosteroids, epinephrine

Morbilliform Drug Reactions

A
  • measles like diffuse and erythematous symmetric papular eruptions
  • 5 days to get sensitised to new drug
  • can occur from re-introduction of a previous drug
  • Histology: perivascular lymphocytes
  • Principles of Therapy: eliminate the drug based on probabilities
